FIBIS Members

We are constantly looking for more volunteers to help us provide services for Members. If you have skills that you think might be useful to FIBIS (cartography, graphics, marketing, sales, etc), then please contact Peter Bailey to discuss it further.  As a volunteer, put in as much or as little time as you can spare.

If you can help, we would be delighted to hear from you! ! !

Transcription Volunteers (open to all)

The great majority of data useful to researchers of family history in British India is housed in the Asia, Pacific and Africa Collection (APAC) at the British Library in London.

FIBIS is in the process of helping OIOC to make this data more readily available to researchers by transcribing such data and publishing it in various forms, particularly on the internet.  We are concentrating our efforts on those records which are both most useful and relatively easy to handle.

Visitors to this site who would like to help us in this endeavour for the benefit of all, particularly those unable to visit London easily, are invited to contact the co-ordinator of this project, Peter Bailey (FIBIS Chairman).

All you need is a computer with Excel, or Excel compatible spreadsheet plus spare time and devotion.
